Born from the idea of saving material and weight, Satsuma has a frame made of triangular wooden profiles - comparable to those used in orange crates. Weighing just 3.5 kg, it is the lightest and most material-reduced solid wood chair. The curvature of the backrest offers ideal seating comfort.
About the brand
JULIA LÄUFER was born in Freiburg. She studied fashion and textile design at St. Martin's School of Arts in London and at the Berlin University of the Arts. During her studies she worked at Christian Dior in Paris, Apropos in Zurich and at the Stadttheater in Freiburg. She began her professional career as a product manager at the fashion company Street One. She later worked as a camera assistant in film, where she took part in projects by Serge Roman and Stanley Kubrik. After these experiences, she returned to design as an art director before founding the industrial design studio LÄUFER + KEICHEL with Marcus Keichel in 2003. MARCUS KEICHE was born in Frankfurt am Main. He studied industrial design, architecture and cultural history at the Berlin University of the Arts. After studying, he worked as a freelance designer in Berlin. In 1998 he founded the diformer Corporate Design and Communication agency, where he worked as managing partner until 2002. In 2003 he founded the studio for industrial design LÄUFER + KEICHEL together with Julia Runner. From 2007 to 2011 Marcus Keichel was a visiting professor at the Berlin University of the Arts.
